What Did You Do With Yours? – Restoration of Petter Engine

Jim has used his 2 x RT8LPPU-RB and 2 x RT8LFPPU-RB (eBay Code RT45) to place on a trolley that holds his rare Series 1 Petter AV2 engine.  This was built in  1949 and one of only four known to exist.

Jim has traced the history of the engine from new.  It was originally sold to R.H. Crawford on 10.11.1950.  Crawfords are a company in Boston, Lincolnshire who would have fitted the engine to either a stone/rock crusher (see photo below) or a farm Potato/Sugar Beet Elevator.  After its work was done at Crawfords the engine was then used on a Generator at an artist’s studio in a remote part of Lincolnshire Wolds.   When the engine was destroyed by fire, Jim obtained some of the bits and over the years has lovingly restored it back to its former glory.

Jim is an ex-Petter service engineer and has written a book about the life and times of the service department over the years.  The book is called  ‘I’ve Got A Job For You’ (see picture below) which is full of comprehensive information about Petter along with over 250 black and white photographs.

I am sure that you will agree that Jim has done a fantastic job with his extensive knowledge and we are only too pleased that Rolltek have been able to supply castors to assist him with his project.

Thank you Jim for sending us ‘What You Did With Yours’ and sending us over such lovely photos and information.  The castors shown in the photos are available to buy at our eBay Shop or similar ones can be found at www.rolltek.co.uk.
